GeneMarker HID

STR Human Identity Software

Developed in collaboration with Mitchell Holland, Ph.D., Associate Director of The Pennsylvania State University's Forensic Science Program. Review Dr. Holland's GeneMarkerHID Poster.

Reduce analysis time by up to 40% with GeneMarkerHID!

GeneMarker® HID is an excellent choice for all forensic profiling applications. This software can be employed as a "biologist friendly" replacement for GeneScan®/GenoTyper® or as an alternative to GeneMapper® ID. GeneMarker® HID uses advanced Windows® technology that is intuitive and easy to learn. In addition to standard STR analysis, GeneMarker HID has been optimized to analyze profiles from YSTRs, LCN samples, ABI's MiniFilerTM Kit, and Locus Specific Bracket (LSB) data. Relationship testing and databasing capabilities are essential for crime scene investigation, missing persons identification and paternity testing.

GeneMarker®HID Provides:

  • Concordance with GeneMapperID®
  • Meets the requirements of an expert system
  • Kinship/Relationship/Pedigree Testing Module - Download University of North Texas Center for Human Identification Poster "The Relationship Testing Application of GeneMarkerHID," 19th Annual Symposium on Human Identity, October 2008.
  • 40% Faster Analysis
  • Increased Accuracy - 45% Fewer Extraneous allele calls
  • Reduced Analyst Fatigue

Reduce casework backlog with these key software features:

Accurate

Advantages of GeneMarker HID are ease of use and accurate, quick analysis. GeneMarker HID utilizes unique sizing algorithms and pattern recognition technology to provide unparalleled accuracy up to 99%.

The majority of functions have been completely automated, using a “smart” expert system software approach to eliminate the need for constant analyst intervention, and to improve analysis to analysis consistency.

Append Projects Quickly and Consistently

Often data pertinent to the case becomes available after the initial project analysis. In just three ‘clicks’ the new files are added and processed using the same parameters as the original project. This append feature provides accurate, consistent updates to projects.

Rapid Data Processing, Instrument Correction and Compatibility

GeneMarker HID can perform STR analysis on over 1,000 lanes of data using the following ABI and Promega kits:

  • Identifiler®
  • SGM Plus®
  • PowerPlex®16
  • And Many More!

The software accepts data format out put by ABI PRISM® 310/3100/3130/3730 Genetic Analyzer instruments, as well as MegaBACE and Beckman CE systems. GeneMarker HID automatically adjusts for— instrument spike, color pull-up, peak pull-up, noisy data, saturated peaks, and stutter peaks—saving significant analysis time and cost, efficiently analyzing raw STR data within seconds. In addition, GeneMarker HID allows the user to conduct a lane by lane overview of unprocessed raw data, permitting a quick quality control assessment of your profiles.

Three Simple Clicks to Analysis

Setting analysis parameters is accomplished through 3 easy-to-use dialogue boxes. Once parameters have been set, they can be saved for future analysis, allowing “single click” operation of the AutoRun feature.

Enhanced Quality Assessment

A few notable features of GeneMarker HID’s analysis window include automatic RFU intensity ranging in the electropherogram, distinct peak flags, and several customizable viewing modes. In addition to a user friendly interface, GeneMarker HID also provides an enhanced quality scoring system that flags suspect alleles and identifies samples that have questionable size calling results.

Customizable Panels and Size Standards

Panel templates and size standards can either be selected from several embedded templates or the user can create and save custom templates. Previously saved ABI panels can also be imported from GeneMapper. Raw data and size calling parameters are also user-definable and once the parameters have been set, they can be saved and called back for future analysis.

Relationship Testing Tools

GeneMarker HID includes an imbedded Pedigree Tool for family tree analysis. This function allows the user to easily add mates and offspring and it automatically identifies allele conflicts between parents and/or siblings. Create an original pedigree file from new data or import pre-made pedigree files (.pre, .ped, .smp).

Additional applications include relationship testing and databasing of family samples. See our Relationship Testing poster from the 2007 International Symposium on Human Identification.

Pedigree Analysis

An expanding pedigree field accommodates and saves multiple children and mates, multiple generations and phenotype information. The pedigree files are compatible with Bennet‘s Standards for human pedigree analysis. The phenotype information and relationships are saved in files with unlimited capacity.

Allele Conflicts Linked to Electropherograms

Family Group tool automatically draws paternity trios. Allele conflicts are linked to the electropherograms for immediate identification in paternity tests.

Missing Persons Application

Locates Duplicate Samples and Nearest Relatives from DataBase Search

Robust statistical analysis calculates combined Likelihood Ratios (using identity by descent, Brenner 1997).

Kinship Analysis

Likelihood Ratios, Probabilities and Relationship Level Options

Kinship Analysis options provide flexibility to analyze data for casework and legal presentation. Options include Relationship levels, Likelihood Ratios and/or probabilities for each locus and combined values.

Easily Compare Analyses

Select to previously analyzed projects and compare the results with GeneMarker HID's unique Project Comparison Tool. The Project Comparison Tool aligns two projects and identifies differences in peak size, height, and allele call. Additionally, if an analyst edited an allele call, the results can be immediately corroborated. The Project Comparison Tool can also be used during validation to examine the affects of certain analysis parameters on allele calling.

Supervisory Tools

Rapid Analysis Review

Provides an Audit Trail

An Audit Trail is available when ‘Record Data Edit History’ is selected in the User Manager Settings. Any change to allele calls in the analysis will be recorded. Changes can also be recovered in the Edit History feature.

Reduces Analyst Fatigue

Design features that reduce analyst fatigue:

  • Auto-scaling feature
  • Linked electropherogram to allele report
  • Report format options
    o Show only uncertain alleles
    o Hide duplicate sample names

Numerous Printing & Reporting Options

Nearly every function of GeneMarker HID has been automated so that once the template is selected from the menu, or created by the user, the software automatically performs the initial data analysis in preparation for user review, thereby providing a myriad of display and reporting options. Analysis results can be sorted and manipulated to meet report requirements and then saved as a text file for input into LIMS or other data base systems. CODIS files can be easily generated and exported. In addition, GeneMarker HID will print electropherograms and peak tables in bulk for either all or selected sample sets in a logical, easy to read format.
